BC Summer Reading Club 2019 Presents: Imagine the Possibilities!
Registration begins June 15, 2019 and weekly programs begin the week of July 9, 2019
The Bowen Island Public Library invites kids aged 5-9 and youth 10+ to join the FREE 2019 BC Summer Reading Club. This year’s theme is Imagine the Possibilities!
Activity sessions begin July 9th and run all the way through to our closing party on August 22nd. They will run for 1.5 hours involving tons of games, crafts, reading and many other fun activities! Youth ages 10+ will be able to attend various workshops throughout the summer led by local Bowen experts.
Kids also have the opportunity to participate in our 50 Day Reading Challenge! They will receive a special reading record to keep track of their reading, if they read everyday for 7 weeks, they’ll be awarded a Summer Reading Club medal and certificate at our Year End Party.
The weeks’ awesome themes
Week 1: Step into the Pages! – Storytelling, role-playing, and history
Week 2: Inventions and Innovations – Science, inventions, and inventors
Week 3: Monsters and Make-Believe – Mythical beasts and imaginary creatures
Week 4: Imagination Creation – Art and creativity
Week 5: Imagine a World Where… – Making the world a better place, the future, and science fiction
Week 6: Reach for the Stars – Dreams, aspirations, and outer space
Week 7: Everyday Extraordinary – Exploring the world around you (e.g. oceans, rainforest, mountains, etc.)
