Job Opening: Literacy Outreach Coordinator

The Bowen Island Literacy Task Group (BILTG) is seeking a Literacy Outreach Coordinator (LOC) to provide administrative and strategic support to the BILTG.

Working collaboratively with the BILTG the Literacy Outreach Coordinator organizes, schedules and facilitates Task Group meetings; provides financial tracking and reporting; participates in a communication strategy; and represents the Task Group to the community, funders and other organizations.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong time management skills and a high degree of self-initiative
  • Solid understanding of, or experience with, financial reporting requirements
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers and technology

Desirable training or experience:

  • A relevant post-secondary degree or diploma, or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of local literacy issues
  • Proven experience in grant and proposal writing

Terms of Engagement:

  • This is a one-year contract position averaging 20 hours per month. Pay rate is $35 per hour to a maximum of 240 hours per year.
  • The LOC will determine their own work schedule but must meet the requirements of the BILTG planning and funding schedules and deadlines.

  2. the fostering of social emotional well-being of all Bowen community members from preschooler to senior; and
  3. the embracing and sustainable support of what makes our community uniquely special.

We work toward collectively supporting a community that is inclusive, respectful and responsive to the diverse needs of a wide range of members by providing support to existing educationally-based on-island programs and to new programs as well.
