Drop in to this free screening of the documentary film Uncharted Waters.

Bowen Island Municipality, with the Environment & Climate Action Advisory Committee, supported production of this film through the Sustainable Community Grants Program in 2021 and are pleased to be able to share it with you now.

Uncharted Waters (approx. 25 mins) follows a group of young people with diverse connections to Howe Sound as they navigate a changing landscape and uncertain future, but also as they come together in community to celebrate and sustain the place they love.

These young people are linked by their involvement in an innovative, community-led mapping project—the Howe Sound/ Atl’ka7tsem Marine Reference Guide. The film features local change-makers such as marine ecologist Fiona Beaty, Squamish Nation youths Jonathan Williams and Nolan Rudkowsky, and Bowen-based artist Di Izdebski.

The event will feature a meet and greet with the film’s subjects, messages from the filmmakers, glass sponge specimens from Marine Life Sanctuary Society, demonstrations of the Marine Reference Guide and a cash bar. It is free to attend and no registration is required.

Presented by the Bowen Island Municipality. Supported by the Bowen Island Public Library.
