What is SRC?

BC Summer Reading Club is a free literacy program that encourages reading throughout the summer and engages children (ages 5-14 years old). Summer Reading Club is a fun, educational, inclusive and community-oriented program that began over 30 years ago. This year’s programs will include crafts, games, activities, and more!

The 2023 BC Summer Reading Club theme is called Journey Through Time. It features artwork by illustrator and artist Jeni Chen.

How to Register for the 50 – Day Challenge

SRC includes a 50 day reading challenge where kids track their reading for 50 days to win a medal at the end of the summer! Throughout the 50 day challenge kids can collect stickers for every 7 days of reading and enter draws for prizes.

Have you finished the 50 – Day Challenge?

If you have completed the challenge please send an email to src@bowenlibrary.ca to claim your medal and certificate. Please include your first and last name.

Celebrate the end of the Summer Reading Club with the Medal Ceremony on Sepember 9th! If you’ve finished the 50 day challenge come for your medal. This year we have special guest Mayor Leonard to hand out awards. If you can’t make it, collect your medal anytime at the front library desk. Register for the Year End Celebration in the Bowen Library events calendar or at this link: https://bipl.link/SRC-celebration.
